Quote by Benjamin Franklin
A life of leisure and a life of laziness are two things. There will be sleeping enough in the grave.
Simple and a very meaningful quote which says being lazy is not the thing to be done now. We would have enough time to sleep and be lazy when we die. Keep yourself busy second after second, minute after minute and hour after hour. We will never know when the wasted seconds turns into minutes, minutes into hours and hours in days and so on. And hence it is very important to work on ourselves and work on how we have to spend our time – by being lazy or by doing something meaningful. Work according to the ethics to overcome the challenges faced during the hardship.
If we think “I am too tired to work now”, we would be lazy to do the work. If we think “I need to wrap up this particular task so that I can take some rest later” we will try to wrap up the work as soon as possible before catching up the sleep. It is all what we think reflects on our body language as rightly said by Mahatma Gandhi – “A man is but the product of his thoughts what he thinks he becomes.”
Here I am not indicating that don’t take the proper rest. Don’t make yourself restless. As mentioned by many people - eight hours of sleep is sufficient for human being. Above that is laziness. Most of us say, “Today is holiday let me be lazy and sleep all the day and night and as it is on the holiday you don’t have much to do” Right? No it is not. You would have so many things to do if you try and make to do list similar to the one which we make at office. Let me give you some of the examples:
Get up early in the morning and go for the walk. It will have the lasting effect on your health.
Clean up the areas that are not regularly taken care of. See around you will find many such things like fans, tube lights, curtains, doors, windows, etc that needs your attention.
Let’s do the face clean up, manicure, pedicure, hair massage and pamper ourselves.
Go for the shopping to fill up your fridge with the basic vegetables to avoid any problems during the week.
Talk to your neighbors and socialize with the friends with whom you have not been in touch since long. You will definitely feel good after this.
Not to mention there must be somewhere a half read book to be completed. Catch up on that and finish it.
I am sure you can list down few more for other readers to do during the time when they feel there is nothing to be done on holidays apart from being lazy. It is entirely up to us what we have to choose. No one will reap the benefits if we will go for the morning walk. It would be we who will get the benefits. So it is we who have to put ourselves into action. It is we who have to avoid becoming lazy. It is we who needs to start the process. It is we who needs to decide when we need to start it. Let me know when you guys start it and how it is affecting your life. And always remember “A life of leisure and a life of laziness are two things. There will be sleeping enough in the grave.”
