Kapil is from Amritsar, Punjab. He currently lives in Bandra, Mumbai and also owns houses in Amritsar.

Be it stand-up of any other form of comedy, kapil would never sit you quite when he is performing. This indian comedian started his career from "The Great Indian Laughter Challenge" show which was hosted by Shekhar Suman and Navjot Singh Sidhu. It was the 3rd season of the show when kapil sharma was introduced in this industry. Kapil won the season and since then he has not looked back.

Kapil then appeared in "Comedy Circus" and became star of it. Kapil Sharma has won five seasons of Comedy Circus in a row.

Kapil Sharma has done theatre for 12 years for free. He feel that it was kind of investment for him. He got to learn a lot from that experience.
